Red Sea Liveaboard for Solo Divers — What to Expect and How to Book
30% of MY JPMarine bookings are solo divers — here is exactly how cabin sharing works, what the social experience looks like, and how to book your spot.

Why liveaboards work well for solo divers
A liveaboard is one of the few travel formats where arriving alone is a structural advantage, not a compromise. The schedule is shared, the briefings are shared, the table is shared — the boat creates the social infrastructure automatically. You do not need to find a dive buddy, plan transport, or eat alone.
| Format | Solo diver experience |
|---|---|
| Resort / day trips | You arrange transport, meals and buddy pairing independently each day |
| Liveaboard | Buddy pairing, meals, briefings and transfers — all handled. You show up and dive. |
| Independent travel | Maximum flexibility, maximum logistics to manage |
| Guided dive centre | Social, but limited to day sites — no overnight offshore access |
On MY JPMarine, 30% of bookings are solo divers — and the number grows each season. The boat runs up to 28 divers per week, which means a solo traveller shares space with a group large enough to meet people, small enough that everyone knows each other by day two.
How cabin sharing works aboard MY JPMarine
MY JPMarine has 14 twin cabins — each fitted with two single berths, private en-suite bathroom with hot-water shower, air conditioning, wardrobe, reading lamps, and a nightstand. There are no single-occupancy cabins. The default for solo bookings is shared occupancy.
| Detail | Policy |
|---|---|
| Default for solo booking | Shared twin cabin — two solo divers per cabin |
| Cabin sharing rule | Same sex only — always |
| Solo supplement | Yes — applies when no same-sex sharing partner is available for the week |
| Cabin location | Sundeck (6 cabins) or lower deck (8 cabins) — all away from engine room |
| Private bathroom | Yes — every cabin has its own en-suite |
| Air conditioning | Individual climate control per cabin |
Cabin sharing is handled before departure — we match solo divers by sex for the week. If no match is available for your dates, the solo supplement applies to give you the cabin to yourself. Contact us directly at info@divesafarimaster.com or via WhatsApp to check sharing availability for specific dates.

The social experience — what solo divers actually say
A week aboard MY JPMarine follows a tight shared rhythm — briefings before every dive, meals together in the air-conditioned salon, surface intervals on the sundeck. The structure means conversations happen naturally, without effort.
✔️ Shared briefings — every diver on the same page before every dive
✔️ Buddy pairing by guides — no solo diver enters the water without a buddy
✔️ Three meals a day together — breakfast, lunch and dinner in the salon
✔️ Sundeck bar area — dedicated shaded social space with bar between dives
✔️ Solarium on deck 4 — open-air area for surface intervals and evenings
✔️ Air-conditioned lounge — entertainment system, self-service tea and coffee
✔️ 28 divers maximum — small enough that you know the group within two days
Most solo divers report leaving MY JPMarine with people they stay in contact with. The shared intensity of pelagic diving — waiting on the plateau at dawn for a thresher shark, watching a hammerhead school turn at Daedalus — creates a specific kind of group memory that forms quickly.

Itineraries available to solo divers
All itineraries on MY JPMarine are available to solo divers. The three main routes differ by dive site focus and certification requirement.
| Itinerary | Sites | Cert | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| BDE | Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone | AOWD | 813 € |
| Pelagic Trail | Daedalus, Zabargad, Rocky Island | AOWD + 50 dives | 813 € |
| Golden Mix | Daedalus, Sataya, St Johns, Rocky, Zabargad | AOWD | 813 € |
The BDE itinerary is the most popular choice for solo divers targeting pelagic sharks. Brothers Islands has no day-trip access — liveaboard is the only way in. The BDE week runs 17–21 dives across three of the most demanding offshore sites in Egyptian waters.
